Editor Settings
The Editor Settings dialog holds application-level preferences — options that belong to the editor itself rather than to any particular project or effect. Open it from the main menu: Windows → Editor Settings....
Settings apply immediately when you press OK and are remembered across editor restarts.
Preview Camera
- Invert Fly Y Axis — flips the vertical mouse direction while flying the preview camera (holding the right mouse button with WASD).
- Invert Orbit Y Axis — flips the vertical mouse direction while orbiting the preview camera (dragging with the right mouse button).
Mouse
-
Swap Middle and Right Mouse Buttons — swaps the roles of the middle and right mouse buttons in every navigation view:
- the 3D preview viewport (orbit, pan, fly),
- the Emitter Scheme (panning the scheme, opening the block context menu),
- the curve editor (panning the graph).
With the swap enabled, dragging with the right mouse button pans where the middle button used to, and vice versa. The mouse wheel keeps its usual zoom behaviour in all views.
Crash Reporting
-
Attach current effect to crash reports — when the editor crashes, it sends a crash report to help us fix the problem. With this option enabled (the default), the report also includes the auto-saved copy of the effect you are currently working on, together with the editor log. Having the actual effect makes crashes far easier to reproduce and fix.
The effect is only included when there is one open; nothing is sent when no effect is active. Turn the option off if you would rather not include your effect in crash reports.
When you are signed in, the crash report is additionally filled in with your account name and email, so we can follow up with you if needed. On Windows these appear pre-filled in the crash dialog; you can still edit or clear them before sending.
Emitter Guide Presets
-
Shared presets folder — points the editor at a folder with Emitter Guide presets shared by your team. When set, every group's Presets menu gets a Shared section showing the presets from that folder, and you can save, rename, move and delete presets there just like in your local collection.
Any folder works — the typical setup is a git repository (or a synced drive) so the whole team pulls the same preset library. Use Browse… to pick the folder and Clear to turn the shared section off. The change applies immediately — no editor restart is needed.
See Emitter Guide presets for how presets work.
Locking the layout
The editor's panels can be rearranged freely — dragged to another spot, pulled out into a window of their own, or resized by the dividers between them. Once you are happy with an arrangement, Windows → Lock Layout freezes it, so a stray drag cannot undo your setup.
While the layout is locked:
- panels cannot be dragged to a new position or tabbed elsewhere,
- panels cannot be pulled out into a floating window,
- panel tabs cannot be closed (including by middle-clicking a project tab),
- the dividers between panels cannot be dragged, so the sizes stay put.
Everything else carries on as normal — the panels themselves stay fully usable, and opening and closing projects still works, with each project still getting its tab. Only rearranging is blocked.
Switching the lock back off restores exactly what was there before, and the setting is remembered between sessions. It is independent of Windows → Reset layout, which returns the panels to the editor's default arrangement.
Keyboard shortcuts
Pressing Space anywhere in the editor restarts the preview scene and plays it from the beginning. The only place it steps aside is a text field, where Space types a space as usual.
Pressing B anywhere in the editor toggles the preview's play/pause — press it once to pause the running effect, again to resume — without rewinding. Like Space, it works from any panel and steps aside only while you are typing in a text field.
In the Emitter Scheme the block picker opens with Tab (Space restarts the preview there too).
